1 Microsoft Faculty Development Workshop

This workshop is designed to help education faculty members utilize technology in their teaching of pre-service teachers, allowing them to model effective technology use with their own students. Timings: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (United Arab, Oman Time) | Location: Auditorium (SMC)
2 Microsoft Distinguished Fellow

As the next step forward to the Microsoft Faculty Development workshop event, Microsoft will also be conducting a ‘Microsoft Distinguished Fellow’ certification on April 8th at Dubai Men’s College. Timings: 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM (United Arab, Oman Time) | Location: B121 (DMC)
3 TOPSIM – General Management Simulation Workshop
(8 & 9 April, 2014)
TOPSIM – General Management simulation is an advanced and comprehensive model representing a company and its functions in all their complexity. The participants of the simulation take over the management role of a company, competing as teams against other simulated companies in a simulated market. Through their decisions, the participants influence the success of their company. Thus, learning about the interrelatedness of a company and about the internal and external variables affecting its economic success. At the workshops, an instructor acts as the coordinator of teams, controller of business environment variables, and an educator to help teams interpret results and reports. The program allows variable degrees of complexity—one may chose to sell either one or two products and may chose to sell them in one or two markets representing domestic and foreign markets. 5 Creating Cross Platform Mobile Apps workshop
(10 April, 2014)
Producing multiple platform mobile apps using HTML5 based interactive eLearning Tools. The presenter will demonstrate how tools such as Raptivity and Captivate together with Phonegap can be used to produce standalone mobile apps from HTML5 objects that run on multiple platforms. 6 BB Learn & Creative Eye – Administration

The workshop is exclusively for HCT College/Course Administrators of Blackboard LMS and Ed Tech support staff involved in the administration of the LMS and end-users of CreativeEye. It aims to provide a hands-on experience on the use of CreativeEye Administration interface, updates to Blackboard Learn and troubleshoot workflows, ‘self enrolment’ in Bb Learn courses using Course Catalog, use of Respondus LDB for assessment set up instructions and much more. 7 Integrating eTexts in Bb Learn: Enhancing student engagement

The workshop will cover access to eTexts using CourseSmart aggregator platform only. Participants will gain skills in integrating an eText into the features of Blackboard making their courses more interactive. They will also be introduced to the features of the CourseSmart mobile app associated with the eText. Participants can use the knowledge/skills gained in this workshop to mentor/train their peers within HCT. 8 Using engaging apps with your students to make them active learners

This workshop is part of a module called “ Mobile Devices in Education” which forms part of the Introductory Certificate in mLearning.
