Azim Ahmed

azim-profile-pic-150Azim joined HCT as the Senior Projects Manager for Education Technology. His responsibilities include Blackboard Learn (9.1) implementation, providing Instructional Design expertise and working closely with academic divisions and faculty in the use of current (and emerging) Teaching and Learning Technologies.  In his present role as the Senior Manager of the LMS department of the divison of Education Technologies of HCT, Azim manages the overall functions and services of HCT’s enterprise learning management system.

Prior to joining HCT, Azim worked in Australia as a Solutions Engineer and Learning Consultant for Blackboard Inc. supporting the company’s Asia-Pacific clientele. In his life before Blackboard, Azim was an Educational Designer and Learning Systems Projects Manager at two of Queensland’s leading TAFE (Vocational Education) Institutes. He managed the institutions’ eLearning Centres and was responsible for the implementation, management and adoption of Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) i.e. Janison and WebCT CE6 Learning Management Systems – at these institutions.

As a guest speaker at Adobe’s Educational Leadership Forum (Sydney, 2010) and Apple’s ‘iPad in Education’ Roadshow (Brisbane, 2011), Azim has presented case studies and shared his vision with the audience on topics such as; ‘Application of ePortfolios (in K-12)’ and ‘Use of iPads in Teaching and Learning’. Azim is the founding member and chair of ‘iPads in Education – User Group’ in Australia which is aimed at establishing a Community of Practice to research and implement innovative ways of using iPads in education and sharing best-practices.

Azim holds a Bachelor’s in Information Technology with two majors – Information Systems and Software Engineering – from Griffith University, Australia. He completed a post-graduate Diploma in Project Management from TAFE Queensland, Australia, with an aim to acquire his PMP Certification. He is also a UCLA alumni and member of Harvard University’s post-graduate student fraternity of the WIDE World Study Programs for Instructional Design and Learning Technologies. Azim is also finishing his Master’s in Educational Technology through distance education from University of Southern Queensland, Australia.

Azim is passionate about Formula 1 racing and plays Cricket, Tennis, Volleyball and Badminton. In his spare time, Azim also loves to hit the race-tracks with his dirt-bike for which he has won 3 Amateur MotoX Championship awards (150cc) category in Queensland, Australia.
