Upcoming Webinars and Courses in mLearning
Here is a list of the upcoming webinars and courses focusing on mLearning.
Date: Thursday, January 21st, 2016
Time: 10:00 to 10:30
In this 30-minute webinar, you will learn how to change the passive viewing of a video into an active learning opportunity by adding questions and discussions to videos. You can also add additional information through texts and images. Students can then watch the video on their own or you can use the presentation mode to view and interact with it as a whole class.
Date: Thursday, February 18th, 2016
Time: 10:00 to 10:30
In this 30-minute webinar, we will review a free online program teachers can use to create digital activities. No coding is required which makes it accessible to all teachers and maybe even your students. You can also explore and use activities other educators have already created and shared in the site.
Online Courses
Date: February 14th to March 13th, 2016
This online course will take place over a period of 5 weeks. Each week new material and activities will be released. It will take approximately 1 hour for participants to complete the required work, which will be a series of online discussions and blog entries.
At the end of the module the participant should be able to
identify a variety of digital communication tools,
describe the advantages and challenges teachers face interacting with their students online and several ways to overcome the challenges,
design and implement an effective online discussion, and
evaluate various digital communication tools, including social media, and select an appropriate tool for a specific learning situation.
Note: In order to be issued a certificate of completion, the participant will need to receive 80% or more in all assignments one after the course ends.
Date: January 31st to Thursday April 7th, 2016
This differentiated online course allows the participants to review only the features of the iPad that they are unfamiliar with instead of the entire course. A combination of videos, pdfs, interactive activities and iBooks are used to help disseminate the information in an iTunes U course, while a Numbers checklist helps the participant keep track of their learning and what areas of the course they need to review. The time it takes to complete this course depends on the iPad experience level of the participant.
At the end of the module the participant should be able to
understand and use the basic functions of the latest iOS
evaluate and implement an appropriate back-up and/or storage solution
create a Pages, Keynote & Numbers file, and
create a movie in iMovie.
Note: In order to be issued a certificate of completion, the participant will need to receive 80% or more in all assignments by April 7th, 2016.
